This may sound canned, but our rate depends on the work, timing, and services we provide. Generally we charge hourly but we’ve also worked with clients using a day rate and a flat fee for a specific service as needed. What we can promise is that you won’t pay for overhead, project management, biz dev, or office snacks. Everyone on our team is capable of managing their work, handling client needs, delivering great results, and feeding themselves. We don’t believe in blended rates and complex ratios that take a spreadsheet to decipher. We just believe in being honest and helping our clients be successful as quickly as possible.
With every new client, we’ll work with you to assess your unique needs and align our team around the skillset and experience that will make you most successful. Each member of our team is experienced so you’ll never have a junior or intern doing your work. Usually, we split the work across the team so we all develop intimate knowledge of our client’s business, customers, and products. We like to divide and conquer when it makes sense so we have unique perspectives tackling the problem space together.
The short answer is, it depends on the need. One thing we do believe in is what we like to call ‘The Pregnancy Rule’. We believe it shouldn’t take more than 9 months to deliver value with clients and we stand by that. If after 9 months we haven’t helped a client release a product, level up a team, or build a culture of innovation, it’s probably time for us to part ways. Usually it’s a sign that either the people or process involved isn’t working and there’s a root cause we need to address to be successful.
We like to say that you can have our time or our energy, but you don’t get to choose both. Of course we’re available throughout the day to hop on a call or share work. But we inherently believe that our energy is what you pay for. Some of us are morning people and up at 2AM cranking on your prototype with the sunrise. Others are night owls delivering designs so they’re fresh out of the oven to your inbox each morning. We believe what matters most is the passion, creativity, and bulletproof work we bring to the table. We promise to give you our best work because you aren’t paying for us to write emails.
We aren’t stuck with a specific tool and we’re often using tools on the bleeding edge of design and prototyping. We’re big fans of Bot Society, InVision prototyping, Sketch App and Typeform. We often build interactive prototypes with tools like Framer and Atomic. And we always start with a pen and paper when we’re coming up with fresh ideas.
